Now Playing Tracks

Throughout my career, so many people never trusted my ability as an artist. No matter what I did, how many albums I sold or how many shows we sold out, I was never pretty enough. That’s all they kept telling me, “We just want you to do the best you can, we want you to look as pretty as you can.” My entire worth as an artist and as a woman in music was being reduced to how I looked and it frustrated me and made me angry. It made me not want to be pretty. It made me want to look as unattractive as possible, to remind people that I make fucking music.
